What SharingCast is

SharingCast is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file transfer tool. When you send a file, it travels directly from your device to the receiving device using WebRTC — it does not pass through, or get stored on, any SharingCast server.

Information we collect

SharingCast itself does not operate a backend server and does not create user accounts. We do not collect, store, or have access to the files you transfer, their names, or their contents.

To establish a direct connection between two devices, we use a third-party signaling service (PeerJS's public broker) which briefly handles connection metadata (such as randomly generated session codes and IP addresses needed for the connection handshake) — not your file contents. This is standard for any WebRTC-based application.

Cookies and advertising

This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone's prior visits. For more on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Our Android and Windows apps

The SharingCast Android app shows this same website inside the app. Ads in the Android app are served by Google (Google AdSense and the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which may be used to estimate your approximate location), app interaction data (such as taps, app launches and ad views) and diagnostic information (such as crash logs and performance data). This data is sent to Google over an encrypted connection. SharingCast itself does not receive or store it, and it is never linked to the files you transfer.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your Android device settings (for example Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads). For more, see how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

The SharingCast Windows app shows banner and native ads from Adsterra, an advertising network. To show, measure and protect these ads, Adsterra and its partners may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser/app version, device type and ad interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies. Ads are clearly marked and open in your own web browser only when you click them.

To opt out of interest-based advertising, you can use YourAdChoices (DAA), Your Online Choices (EDAA), or Google's Ads Settings, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser or app settings. Opting out does not remove ads; it only makes them less personalized.

Passwords you set

If you set a password to protect a file transfer, it is only used to verify the receiving device during that session and is never transmitted anywhere except directly between the two connected devices, over an encrypted connection. We do not store passwords.
